Lucie Biros

Lucie Biros has been making clothing since she could use scissors. She enjoys refining a variety of apparel techniques, including corsetry, tailoring, and a short experience with shoemaking while studying abroad at the London College of Fashion. Other shows include No White at the Weisman Art Museum. She has worked at the University of Minnesota Costume Shop since fall 2010, interned with local designer Kerry Riley of Needle and Black, and has been doing commissioned corsetmaking and apparel design since 2009.

Her line, Gold, No Glitter, bends concepts of mystery, attraction and gender while giving the wearer statement designs to enhance their individuality and independence. Leather, velvet, wool and silk all contribute to a cryptic communication of attraction and a rich sense of timeless secrecy. Inspirations include J.R.R. Tolkien, Alexander McQueen, the Victorian and Medieval periods, and various musicians. Lucie aims to earn a Master’s degree in Fashion Design Technology after graduation, hopefully landing in London.
